The Arctic vs The Antarctic

The name Antarctic comes from Antarktikos which means "opposite of North". The Arctic is an ocean entirely surrounded by land and has Polar Bears. The Antarctic is a continent entirely surrounded by oceans and has Penguins. The depth of water at the North Pole is about 13, 980 ft and the average temperature is -40 C. Despite these conditions, human civilization is present in the arctic. The Antarctic is the southernmost continent and the 5th largest of which 98% is covered in Ice. It is the coldest, windiest, and dryest continent. The maximum temperature is -89C. There is no human civilization here but some people in the research stations. Antarctic is colder than the Arctic because most of it is 3km above see level and temperature rises with elevation.
